In February 2024, we welcomed a very special guest to the Tortoise Hotel—the one and only Atticus Finch! 🐢 His mum, Sara, was in the midst of moving house, and with Atticus being a rather large and dominant Spur-Thighed tortoise, she knew juggling both a house move and his energetic spring wake-up would be quite the challenge.

Originally, Atticus was only meant to stay for a few months. But as time passed, it became clear—he had made himself at home.

The King of the Tortoise Hotel

From the moment he settled in, Atticus ruled the place. He wasn’t just a guest; he was the boss. Every rock, plant pot, and sunbathing spot became his territory. If it didn’t move, Atticus claimed it! His bold personality (and love for climbing anything in sight) quickly made him a firm favourite among the team here at the UK’s most luxurious tortoise boarding and hibernation facility.

A Joyful Reunion

After a long winter of hibernation, Atticus finally opened his eyes to a familiar face—his mum was back! ❤️ And if you’ve ever met a tortoise-like Atticus, you’d know—he doesn’t do subtle emotions. There was no mistaking his excitement when he saw Sara again.

After a whole year at the Tortoise Hotel, it's finally time for Atticus to head home. We’ll miss his mischievous personality, but we know he’s off to new adventures (and probably some well-reinforced plant pots! 😉).
